The NEC LX Series covers x86 based computer platforms, and accompanying network, software and infrastructure. NEC has developed a solution based on the changes that had taken place in the automotive sector for simulation, which in turn, later opened up a larger market for NEC LX Series clusters.
Storage that keeps every GPU and CPU productive. The VDURA Data Platform combines flash-speed parallel file performance with cost-efficient capacity in a single global namespace, so research and AI infrastructure delivers more results per dollar and per watt. Designed, integrated, and supported worldwide by NEC.
Ensuring the reliability and reproducibility of HPC simulation results has become a critical requirement in both academic and industrial research. Yet in practice, the process that produced a result is often difficult to reconstruct — manual recording is time-consuming, incomplete, and prone to human error.
It was really a wise decision to select NEC and NajTech as technology partners. Our choice proved to be right on the sad occurrence of the Jeddah floods of 2011. We were switched over to ONLINE MODE within few minutes through our other Disaster Recovery Site Link and we are proud to have NEC EXPRESSCLUSTER installed within our IT Infrastructure as a Disaster Recovery Contingency Plan. NewsTokyo, October 30, 2026 - NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701), a leading global IT and network transformation services provider, today announced that it has been named an Engage Preferred Services Partner (EPSP) within Fortinet’s Engage Partner Program. This designation demonstrates NEC’s ability to expertly deploy, operate, and maintain end-to-end security solutions helping organizations achieve digital acceleration. "Achieving the Engage Preferred Services Partner designation marks an important milestone in our collaboration with Fortinet across Southeast Asia. Building on our long-standing relationship, we look forward to further strengthening our collaboration to help customers across the region address evolving cybersecurity challenges. By combining NEC's cybersecurity expertise, mission-critical engineering capabilities, and strong regional presence with Fortinet's security platform, we are well positioned to support customers as they modernize their networks, strengthen cyber resilience, and advance their digital transformation initiatives."— Masayuki Kayahara, Corporate SVP, Global Managed Service Division, NEC Corporation As an Engage Preferred Services Partner, NEC receives access to specialized training and direct assistance from Fortinet experts to build new skills in providing advanced security support or services for their customers, including those with rapidly evolving and expanding hybrid network infrastructures. NEC can also collaborate directly with Fortinet Professional Support experts on implementations to leverage Fortinet best practices, resulting in increased expertise and visibility while developing a more robust services portfolio.
Meta Platforms, Inc. (Meta), NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701), and Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. (Sumitomo Electric) have started collaboration to build "Petal," the world’s first commercial petabit (*) optical submarine cable system. In recent years, the need for resilient, reliable connectivity has grown rapidly as communication traffic has continued to increase. The transatlantic route connecting North America and Europe in particular serves as a crucial communication infrastructure linking major digital hubs, and further increases in communication capacity and efficiency are urgently required. Petal will become a transatlantic optical submarine system that will span approximately 7,000 km between the United States and France and is scheduled to commence operation in 2029. Petal will employ two-core fiber, with two optical transmission paths within a single fiber and an advanced single-housing repeater technology with reduced power consumption, enabling single-end feeding for maximum network resilience. With 48 pairs of spatial channels (core-pairs), Petal will achieve a transoceanic transmission capacity that doubles Anjana, the world’s first transoceanic 24 fiber-pair system (another collaboration between Meta, NEC, and Sumitomo Electric) and aims to be the world’s first petabit-class optical submarine cable system. Meta will fund and operate the cable system. As part of this, NEC will be responsible for the overall design and construction of the two-core system, and Sumitomo Electric will provide the two-core fiber for the submarine cable system construction. Comments from each company regarding this matter are as follows. Alex-Handrah Aimé, Vice President, Network Investments, Meta "Meta continues to invest in digital infrastructure, such as subsea cables, because they are foundational to delivering the high quality services our end users expect from us. Petal will set a new standard for what cable systems can deliver and is a testament to the deep collaboration and innovation between Meta, NEC, and Sumitomo Electric." Eduardo Mateo, Chief Strategy Officer, Submarine Network Division, NEC Corporation "Achieving petabit-per-second capacity across a transoceanic submarine system represents a major technological milestone in the history of global telecommunications. This achievement reflects NEC’s sustained investment in research and development, combined with decades of experience delivering some of the world’s most advanced, reliable, and secure submarine networks that interconnect the globe." Takehiko OKADA, General Manager, Optical Fiber & Cable Division, Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. "We are thrilled that Sumitomo Electric’s innovative submarine multi-core fiber, ‘2C Z-PLUS ULL Fiber’ will contribute to ‘Petal,’ an epoch-making Pb-class transatlantic cable system. As a pioneer with nearly four decades of experience in ultra-low loss submarine fiber manufacturing, we are committed to supporting the global network expansion essential to realizing a highly digital future."
